FAQ REGARDING RMBR

  • RMBR is the Rotating Media Bio Reactor which is the heart of the system
  • ECOBIOPACK is the overall system incorporating the RMBR with pumps, Filters and other peripherals
  • Yes. The RMBR is intensely aerobic as the drum rotates at 40% submergence and 60% of it is in contact with the air
  • In fact the RMBR is a far more efficient aeration device than surface or diffused aeration systems
  • The ECOBIOPACK is very innovatively designed system and is ergonomically optimized; it has a very strong track record with over 400 successful installations
  • The ECOBIOPACK is designed for giving the minimal footprint and yet all parts are easily accessible
  • The ECOBIOPACK needs minimal human interface for operation as it is automated to a great extent
  • The ECOBIOPACK is elegant and aesthetically designed
  • The ECOBIOPACK takes minimal time to manufacture, install and commission compared to other systems
  • The ECOBIOPACK can be relocated if needed
  • The ECOBIOPACK can be conveniently interfaced with a SCADA system for remote observation and operation
  • The RMBR is a highly intensified version of the attached growth aerobic attached growth aerobic biological treatment process.
  • The RMBR can support a significantly denser population of microbes and therefore requires much shorter retention times compared to all other systems
  • The RMBR is therefore very compact and saves space
  • The RMBR is a drum rotating at low rpms on bearings and needs very nominal power input to keep it in rotation. Hence the RMBR needs only 25O o of the power input compared to other systems
  • The RMBR is silent and does not produce sound unlike other systems that depend on blowers for aeration
  • The ECOBIOPACK is a patented system of Dr. Naik. M/s Anushka Builder and Coloniser is an authorise associate of Dr. Naik. Dr Naik authorise selected vendors are as under

  • Company is very selective in marketing its systems and the main criterion is the proper upkeep and maintenance of their system after handing over. A misused product often gives a bad name to the manufacturer for no fault of the manufacturer. Hence, we are very selective in choosing its potential clients
  • Company does minimal advertising and is happy working for reputed groups of companies. It prefers quality to quantity and also believes in concentrating on fewer projects and doing full justice to them.
  • Company does not endeavor to compete with players who under quote and is quite confident on its pricing rationale and does not compromise on the same. We are proud if its elite clientele and plans to retain its elite clients and adding to them.

The ECOBIOPACK meets all standards for the following uses:

  • A) Gardening
  • B) Toilet flushing
  • C) Car Washing
  • D) Cooling Systems make up water (after softening)
  • E) Artificial impoundments,Iakesetc
  • F) Discharge into all types of water bodies—lakes, rivers, sea etc
  • More specifically, the ECOBIOPACK typically outputs water with BOD <5ppm, TSS<5ppm and TKN < 0.5ppm
  • If the ECOBIOPACK is a patented system, are the Buyers solely dependent on Company to provide service?
  • Not at all. On the contrary, because of the security provided from the patent, Company feels it safe to share complete information on the system with the Buyers.
  • Typically, ECOBIOPACK spares consist of bearings, oil seals, glands etc which are widely available. Media too can be procured from vendors all over the globe.
  • Company imparts training to Buyer’s staff and has a longer hand holding period than other players. The training is designed to make the Buyer capable of operating and maintaining the system independently.

The daily operation routine comprises:

  • a) Alum needs to be charged for the day into the dosing tank or flocculation channel. This takes a few minutes. Floc formation is to be observed in the flocculation channel and alum dose is to be fine tuned accordingly as needed. Normally, the dose does not need to be changed.
  • b) Filters need to be backwashed 1-3 times a day depending on incoming load. Each Backwash takes 15 minutes
  • c) The sludge pump/valve needs to be opened for up to a few minutes daily to drain the sludge into the dewatering bags. Dewatered sludge from the bags is to be utilized in the garden or disposed off daily. This could take up to 5 minutes
  • d) All in all the above tasks typically take an hour of actual work in a day.
  • All pumps are on level activated automatic control
  • For advanced models, the following tasks are automated
  • a) Filter backwash
  • b) Sludge release into suspended filter bags

The RBC

  • The RBC consists of plastic disks or moulds bound together and mounted on a shaft. The shaft is supported on bearings and rotated by the geared motor
  • The entire media pack is static and rotates as a single monolithic element in the sewage at 40% submergence
  • Over a period of time, due to low relative linear velocities in portions of the media nearer the shaft, biomass accumulates and is not sloughed off due to sluggish velocities. This causes abnormal loads on the shaft and mechanical failures. Cleaning such fouled RBC is cumbersome

The RMBR

  • The RMBR drum contains loosely packed media that are free to move in the drum. Thus, sloughing is very effective and there is no biomass accumulation anywhere. The RMBR is therefore far more robust and never needs to be cleaned.
    a) The Drum
  • The RMBR drum is very robust and corrosion proof. Hence no chance of damage
  • b) Media
  • Media are of virgin polypropylene. As rotation is slow (less than 3 rpm) there is hardly any wear and tear
  • c) Gear Box
  • The gear box is of Bonfiglioli or SEW Eurodrive make. This is oversized and has a very high safety factor. The gear box does not fail overnight. It is only is the symptoms are ignored for months that there could be chances of breakdown. It takes 30-60 minutes to replace the gear box
  • d) Gear Box Motor
  • The motor is protected by an overload relay that trips if there is an abnormal load. Thus the motor is protected from burnout.
  • e) Shaft bearings
  • These are self aligning heavy duty bearings
  • As rotational speeds are low, wear and tear is negligible
  • In case of failure (highly unlikely) , it takes 60 minutes to replace the bearing

  • Yes. Unlike competing systems, which need a minimum load of at least 50%, the ECOBIOPACK works equally efficiently at loads as low as 10% of the design load. We have started up plants even at 5% of the design load
  • This is a tremendous advantage as occupancy builds up gradually and sometimes in a phased manner. The ECOBIOPACK automatically adjusts to the increasing load over time. The biofilm thickness on the RMBR media grows with the load
  • Yes. Unlike competing systems, which need a minimum load of at least 50%, the ECOBIOPACK works equally efficiently at loads as low as 10% of the design load. We have started up plants even at 5% of the design load.
  • The system is always designed for the maximum or peak load
  • This is a tremendous advantage in case of week end homes, resorts, pilgrimage places, schools and institutions , sugar and food industries etc. where the wastewater load is seasonal. The ECOBIOPACK automatically adjusts to the increasing load over time. The biofilm thickness on the RMBR media grows with the load
  • The ECOBIOPACK has been working very successfully in many of the above situations over 2 decades.
  • Yes.Infact the traditional RBC was developed as analternative for freezing sewage in a eration tanks.
  • The RMBR is in a way, exothermic and the heat can be felt Around the drum.Even if the ambient temperatures are below zero degrees Centigrade, the RMBR maintains very warm conditions as there is minimal heat loss.
  • Bubbled aeration based processes like the SAFF, FAB, FMR, MBBR are not effective in cold climates.
